GMGG AWARDED - ‘The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service’

GMGG AWARDED - ‘The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service’ - The MBE for volunteer groups.

With Waheguru’s grace, we are honoured to receive the Queen’s Award for our Covid-19 Food Support Programme. We accept this recognition on behalf of all Sikhs around the World and the collaborative efforts of all the charities, organisations, faith groups & individuals we had the pleasure of serving with.

This recognition would not be possible without the examples of our forefathers & teachers paving the way of how Seva (selfless service) is done. All credit goes to them and their teachings of selflessness for the betterment of humanity.

Sikhs awarded for Community Resourcefulness in Response to Covid-19

Sikhs Awards for Community Resourcefulness

Only by the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, like many Sikhs all over the world, we were able to do seva and serve as one. We, therefore, accept the recognition & award for outstanding work in the community - for 'Community Resourcefulness in Response to Covid-19' by The London Faith & Belief Forum - as one, on behalf of all Sikhs.

Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji started the concept of Langar - the free community kitchen - to highlight the importance of understanding true equality; The same light is within each and everyone one of us regardless of colour, creed, gender, age, or social background, therefore we all sit at do Simran (meditate) together and we eat together.

GMGG Food Support Project featured on BBC News

GMGG Serving as One and taking Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's concept of Langar out to the people, during a time when people could not come to us.

With Waheguru's Grace - Responding to the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic the only way Sikh's know how - with SEVA, selfless service.

Serving as ONE

GMGG UK's Response to Covid-19

With Waheguru’s Grace we have been incredibly fortunate to be blessed with seva (selfless service) to help our communities and help others to help their communities during this Worldwide pandemic.

We have been inspired by the efforts of everyone around the world, who during this time put the need of others before themselves. We are grateful to have played a small part in the big story of humanity.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (our Eternal teacher) teaches us the importance of coming together during a time of adversity, to be resilient together as ONE and having faith in the greatness of ONENESS.

With Waheguru’s Grace @gmggurdwarauk ’s 5 day International Sangam was incredibly powerful and inspiring.

Sangat from all over the world took away Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s message of love & kindness to all - which only truly happens when we start hearing the Shabad Guru (Waheguru’s voice) from within. By hearing the Shabad Guru and making the mind the follower - anxiety, depression, ego & anger start to fade away.

Seva, Selfless Service

SEVA - Selfless Service. With Waheguru’s grace, during our Vaisakhi 2019 weekend celebrations the focus was on seva

Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji teaches us about two types of seva: 1. Gurus seva - which is Simran; remembering Waheguru with every breath - this is the only way to cleanse the mind. 2. Sangat’s seva - by doing this we diminish the ego and open ourselves to truly seeing each other as equals. .

This weekend we were blessed to do both and to pass on the knowledge & importance of seva to the next generation with GMGG’s first #KidsSevaDay. Hundreds of children from the ages of 4-19 and their parents experienced Seva in the: Darbar hall; Langar hall & Kitchen.
